By periodically getting together in a social environment all matters that affect business in the area can be discussed. Also making others aware of what you do and how you do it are equally important.
The Victor Harbor Business Association and its members understand this fully, and therefore hold monthly "Building Local Networks" sessions. At those meetings general business issues and current initiatives are discussed. New members are then given the opportunity to present their business to the group, and generally a couple of other businesses, that have new information about their company, are given the opportunity for a brief presentation.
Next a guest speaker will address the membership. The speaker can be from the local council, or may be an industry expert who can educate the members regarding specific business related information. The meeting concludes with a general discussion amoungst members in a social environment with refreshments and canapés.
To say that networking is vital for business is an understatement. Networking not only allows business people to understand and appreciate their neighbours, but allows them to become a powerful group to deal with issues that affect all businesses. Also by sharing knowledge and skills business is in a better position to take on the global business coummunity by operating more efficiently.
